From Street Child to Author: Tigest's Inspiring journey
We are thrilled to share the incredible success story of Tigist, who joined Hold My Hand in 2021 after facing the challenges of life on the streets. Her transformation from street child to published author is nothing short of remarkable! Through unwavering dedication and hard work, Tigist has achieved her dream of writing her very own book. Her commitment to this goal has been truly inspiring, as she tirelessly devoted herself to making it a reality.
Her Journey Before Hope
At just 18 years old, Tigist has lived a life most couldn’t imagine. Before joining Hold My Hand in 2021, she was forced to survive on the streets after escaping a home filled with abuse, pain, and neglect. Alone and vulnerable, she battled addiction and despair, with no access to education, safety, or anyone to believe in her.
Each day was a fight to survive. She had no warm meals, no guidance, and no dreams to chase. Tigist's story could have ended there but something inside her still held on. She didn’t just need help; she needed hope, healing, and someone to truly see her.
When HMH Reached Out
Today, Tigist is in Grade 12, chasing her dreams with fire in her heart. She recently finished writing her first book and is now fundraising to print 1,000 copies to share her message with the world. Her second book is already in progress, telling the untold truths of street life and addiction through her own lived experiences.
But Tigist isn’t stopping there—she now mentors younger girls at Hold My Hand, becoming the very role model she once longed for. Her dream is to become a renowned author and speaker, sharing her story of resilience and redemption across the globe.
