Addis Birhanu's Journey of Hope: From Street to Hope
For over 10 years, Addis Birhanu was more than just a cook at Hold My Hand—she was the second mother to hundreds of children. With every meal she served, she poured out love, dignity, and hope to those who had known only struggle.
Her Journey Before Hope
Addis Birhanu’s journey with Hold My Hand began over a decade ago. As the shelter cook, she was known not just for her unforgettable meals but for her nurturing spirit and wisdom. For hundreds of children coming from poverty and life on the streets, she was their “Mom.”
Addis gave more than food—she gave herself. Her warm words, gentle guidance, and unwavering presence brought comfort and strength to countless children. Whether it was shiro on the stove or a song of praise from the kitchen, Addis’s love was felt in every corner of the shelter.
When HMH Reached Out
In 2024, Addis graduated from Helen Vocational Training Institute as a certified professional chef. She took her gift to the Inter Luxury Hotel, starting a new chapter rooted in dignity and accomplishment. Her years of service opened doors to a proud career.
Today, Addis is also preparing for marriage and embracing new beginnings. Her story reminds us that restoration is not just for the children—but for the caregivers, the givers, the mothers too.
